CDC campaign targets HIV/AIDS complacency among young black Americans.
USA Today (3/4, Sternberg) reports that the CDC's "i know" campaign, which is part of the White House's "five-year, $45 million effort called Act Against AIDS," aims to "draw thousands of young people into a conversation about HIV using Facebook, Twitter, text messages and a website." The initiative targets "young African Americans" who may have become complacent about the disease. According to public health officials, there is a "misconception that, thanks to effective treatment, HIV is no longer an emergency."
