CDC says four cruise ships reporting stomach illnesses.
USA Today (3/5) examines the "unusually high number" of stomach illnesses on "at least four cruise chips this week." The CDC said the affected lines were the "Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas, Celebrity Cruises' Millennium and Holland America's Maasdam," as well as Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas off South America, where Brazil prevented passengers from coming ashore. USA Today adds, "The largest of the outbreaks is on the Maasdam, where nearly 14% of 1,211 passengers on board have fallen ill." The CDC has samples to test from the three ships under its jurisdiction but so far has not identified a cause.
