Physicians turning to Internet for house calls.
The Columbus (OH) Dispatch (2/24, Hoholik) reported that many hospitals and healthcare providers are moving toward completely electronic record-keeping and service systems, thanks in part to a "push by the federal government to reduce medical errors and save money." John Lawson, divisional director for Trinity Health, the parent company of Mount Carmel Health System, said that going online "is what people have come to expect." According to the Dispatch, healthcare providers with electronic systems meeting the Federal government's criteria will receive "increased Medicare payments for five years and a bonus for putting in the system by 2014."
