Home Monitoring Devices
Wireless mobile devices may help monitor patients.
The National Journal (3/2, Matthews, subscription required) "Tech Daily Dose" reports, "Smart phones, cell phones and home computers are just waiting to launch the next big revolution in healthcare, said Robert Jarring, senior director for government affairs at the wireless communications innovator Qualcomm Inc." Notably, "wireless mobile devices can become an ever-present link between patient and doctor." For instance, "a blood pressure cuff that connects to your cell phone can transmit blood pressure and heart rate data to your doctor's office daily if necessary." There are also apps to help monitor blood sugar and weight.

With a webcam software, you do not have to worry about losing what your camera has recorded if there has been a theft or vandalism. Since most of these services like GotoCamera www.gotocamera.com store images and recordings on an external server, you can always go back and retrieve them to catch the culprit.
