Company to make ultrasonic devices to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The AP (1/5) reports that a group of "University of Michigan inventors have lined up $11 million for" HistoSonics, Inc., which "will make their ultrasound tool for treating prostate disease without surgery."
Crain's Detroit Business (1/4, Henderson) reported that Tom Davison, chairman and CEO of the company, "said the first medical target will be...benign prostatic hyperplasia, and once the technology is proven in that market, the company will go after the much bigger cancer-treatment markets." Davison added, "This is going to change the way tumors and other conditions are treated."
