CDC links salmonella outbreak to pet frogs.
Bloomberg News (1/8, Gibson) reports, "A salmonella outbreak in 31 states was linked to pet frogs, US health officials said," prompting suggestions that the public-health efforts to educate children on the proper handling of reptiles "should be expanded to amphibians." The CDC made the recommendation in an "editorial note" accompanying a new report regarding the outbreak of the Typhimurium strain of salmonella. The CDC's report found that "nearly two-thirds" of the 85 people infected "had some contact with frogs."
